At the International Sentul Racing Circuit in Indonesia, amidst the presence of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales, Yamaha has officially unveiled the most awaited motorcycle from their stables – the R15 v3! and it is all-new in every sense! The 2017 R15 v3 packs in a bigger engine, more power and some real nifty features.
R15 v3 Engine
As was speculated, the R15 v3 indeed comes with a bigger 155.1 cc liquid cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder engine. It retains the SOHC (Single Overhead camshaft) configuration like the older R15 (CBR150R comes with a DOHC – Dual overhead camshaft configuration). However, it gets VVA – Variable Valve Activation! Fuel delivery is via a fuel injector like before.
This new motor churns out a segment-best 19.3 PS of peak power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of maximum torque at 8500 rpm. This means it produces about 3 PS of higher power and is slightly higher than the Indonesia-spec older R15 (14.5 Nm). What is more interesting is the introduction of Slipper Clutch to the new-gen motorcycle! However, there is no talk of ABS for now…

R15 V3 Launch
These details and the bike have been revealed by Yamaha in Indonesia and its launch is scheduled for February 2017 which is when the prices and all the variants will be announced. In India also, the R15 v3 will be launched sometime this year. Tomorrow they are launching the FZ25 in India.
