150cc Aprilia SR150 Sport ScooterBike; First Aprilia to be Manufactured in India! [Auto Expo 2016]

The golden boy among Italian two-wheeler manufacturers, Aprilia has grabbed the centre stage at the ongoing Auto Expo with the unveiling of what will be their first Made in India product, the SR150. Set to be manufactured at the Baramati facility of Vespa India, the SR150 looks inspired from the SR Motard 50 and SR Motard 125.

Being called as the country’s first Sport-Scooterbike, SR150 gets (as the name suggests) a 150 cc mill which would make it join the elite group of scooters (in India) with similar displacements. Adding to this is the unique styling, which is different and surely rugged. SR150 gets a sporty handle bar, protruding beak, large 14 inch tyres and head lamp integrated in the front apron with a shield.

While power output figures have not been revealed but if Aprilia’s lineage is anything to go by it can be expected to be slightly more powerful as per segment average.

Braking duties are administered by a 220 mm front disc and a 140 mm drum unit at the rear. And sporting those street sport wheels are five spoke alloys.

Aprilia with the SR150 aims to target the urban youth who would want to get something different than the average automatic scooter. Expect Piaggio to launch the scooter at a premium around August this year and it will be placed over the Vespas!
